I have had the great fortune of studying with Mestre Fran since 2004. Although life has often pulled me away from the game, the game and the lessons that Mestre teaches through this art are never away from me. His class is not about just exercising the body, but aligning the mind and spirit as well through the use of movement, music and culture. Above all, capoeira is for everybody and it's a life long journey. I look forward to playing the game well into my old age.

Capoeira by itself is interesting, fun, culturally valuable and just generally a good practice - but that's true of lots of martial arts. What makes Mestre Fran and his school unique is is combination of his profound technical understanding and mastery with a welcoming, engaging, and fun teaching style. My four-year-old son has been studying there for almost a year - I honestly didn't expect that we'd find a school that would be able to balance engaging kids with really high-level training, but here it is, right in our own Decatur! And the fact that Mestre Fran himself is the one teaching the kids' classes is kind of amazing. We are lucky to have Mestre Fran's school here!

I have been a part of several groups. Maculele Atlanta feels like home. Mestre teaches with energy and we learn the beauty of the game, music and complexities of capoeira.

One of the most beautiful experiences that Capoeira has given me is the camaraderie of the members of this group who share my love of Capoeira. We are unbelievably fortunate in Maculele Atlanta to have Mestre Fran sharing his wisdom, knowledge, time, and experience; helping all of his students to grow and develop in this beautiful martial art. I am most pleased with how Capoeira has aided the development of my three sons; Malungo, Besourinho, and Velos. Their sense of self-confidence, discipline, and creativity has expanded. This growth has had a direct positive impact on their academic performance and enthusiasm for learning. Muito obrigado to Mestre Fran for his tireless efforts on behalf of Capoeira.

Capoeira is the most complex, but most fun I have ever had in my life. I try to practice evryday when I have some spare time and I am always trying to learn new moves with and without the teacher. I think everyone should practice everyday and grow roots in this form of martial art. Remember to Jinga and we'll be back to get our cords!!!!

I went to the Maculele Altanta class on Friday and Mestranda took time out of the class to help us and that one on one basis is important in the art of Capoeira. Remember to Jinga and go Maculele!!!
